Hello everyone,

I'm going to start with the bad news to end on a good note.

Bad News: I was laid off last week from my animation job. While I will not go into too much detail, I will say it was not due to me personally, and I was not the only one affected by it.
Due to this, it's back to job hunting for me all the time. I'm sorry I got everyone's hopes up that I'd be busy on here with new work. Life can throw you a bunch of different things, and balancing them is difficult, especially for me at times like right now.

To sum it up; I'll put new work on here when I have it. No specific time frame. I appreciate you all watching me and sticking around, it means the world to me right now <3

Now, the Good News:

I have a new Demo Reel for this year! I hope you all enjoy it ^^

I've got Uranium Fever~

But seriously, the game is so good so far. <3
  • Playing: Fallout 4
It's been a long time....

How have you been?

But seriously, it's been too long since I've written a journal and submitted anything on here. I've been on and actively watching things for a while, but due to my time and resources finding a job in my field of photoshop, visual effects, and motion graphics; I kinda had to put everything on hold for a year or two. I appreciate you all sticking around and watching. It means the world to me. Seriously. Hug

...Until now. :D

I'm absolutely thrilled to say that about a month and a half ago, I have landed a full-time career in my field doing....this stuff. Visual Effects, Motion Graphics, Working in Photoshop, and even learning Illustrator (learning it correctly!) after 2 years in Chicago searching for something. :happybounce:

Due to this, I have more free time and I want to start making new wallpapers from time to time again. But there are a few changes I want to put in place:

1. Weekends Only. -  My new job has me working 9-5 Monday-Friday with a 1 hour commute each way. So weekday wallpapers are out of the question right now. If I do upload something new, it's gonna be on the weekends. Keep in mind I am in no way guaranteeing something new every single week, what I'm saying is that if I have something new; it'll be uploaded on the weekends, so expect it then.

2. I want to do more than just Pony. (I never stopped watching btw, Season 5 is fantastic so far) For those who don't know, I am a huge Pokemon fan, and want to start making a few Pokemon wallpapers as well from time to time.

3. I want to try new styles. I look at my previous works and honestly....I'm starting to get sick of smoke and clouds. I want to try new things, do some things differently. And since I'm now learning Illustrator extensively...I can. :D

Thanks again for sticking around.

Now....for you Pony fans....I've been gone a while...and a lot has changed in a year....spam me with wallpaper ideas in comments to this journal. I'm not guaranteeing anything, but I need some ideas to get started with ;)
Hi guys! Sorry I've been inactive for a while, as I'm still looking for full-time work in my field, which is taking up most of my time right now. Until I get a stable source of income, I'm putting my work on here on hold for right now. Don't worry, I'm not leaving, I'm not going anywhere, I'll still be here and be able to reply to comments and whatnot. I just won't be putting up much artwork as much as I've done in the past until I get a stable source of income to keep my lights on. Sorry for not letting you all know this sooner, but my real life has gotten pretty busy as of late. :/

Anyways, I wanted to take a moment to show you all my new demo reel. For those of you who don't know, I'm a visual effects and motion graphics artist for TV, commercials, movies, video games, any kind of digital medium. Here's what I do:

www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/s…

I'm rooting for the Theory of Everything to take all this year. It's an absolutely brilliant movie based on the life of Dr. Stephen Hawking and how he has overcome overwhelming obstacles. Felicity Jones and Eddie Redmayne were both brilliant in this movie. See it if you haven't already. I've seen it TWICE (which I never do), it's that good.

In terms of best Visual Effects (my industry), I think it's most likely Interstellar will take the cake this year. Guardian's VFX were alright. I still need to see the other three though.

Does anyone have any predictions or recommendations they wanna throw out there? :)

Mine to to get a job in my field by the end of March, and just get some more work experience under my belt. :)

What about you all?
Hi everyone! Just wanted to say thanks for all the birthday wishes and the llamas :D Means a lot to me and I really appreciate it! ^_^

And on another more random note, what do you all think of the new DeviantART logo? (assuming you can see it and it's not just a beta tester thing) I'm kinda...meh on it. :/

So...for those of you who can see it...what do you think of the new layout?

It reminds me a lot of Facebook honestly O.o
No, it's not a hoax. On the verge of crying as I type this.

Robin Williams was one of the most important icons of my childhood, and one of my favorite actors of all time. From Aladdin to What Dreams May Come, he was always fun to watch at the movies, and even on TV shows such as when he was on Whose Line Is It Anyway for one episode.

Godspeed Man...and all the best to your daughter, Zelda Williams, and the rest of your family.

I'm gonna end it on a happy note by sharing some of my favorite moments of his, because that's what he would have wanted us all to do; laugh and smile :')

It's the opposite of my last journal. You have a movie you just can't stand but everyone around you seems to like it?

I'll start with mine. Get your tomatoes ready.

Transformers
The 1st Michael Bay movie. I have not seen the second two, but I have seen the first one. Everyone at the time it came out loved it, while I just saw it like I see pretty much all of Michael Bays work; Explosions with mediocre plot at best. I will not be seeing the other three, as I've heard that they are even worse, and seeing how the first one blew in my opinion, I have no desire to watch the other 3... (How they are up to Transformers 4 in the movies is laughable)
This movie also turned me off towards watching the original cartoon series. I don't care if people say that the cartoon series is good; I'm sick of seeing anything to do with Transformers at this point.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Jim Carrey. I enjoy his work (Especially in the Truman Show)
Ellijah Wood. I like his work (LOTR movies are my favorite movies of all time)
Kirsten Dunst. Eh, I grew up watching her in Jumanji and the original Spiderman Trilogy.
I was interested to see what these three would look like in one movie. I thought it would be interesting and engaging. What I got was an incoherent mess. The plot was all over the place, difficult to follow, and it just...bored me. I don't understand why so many like this movie. I just don't like love stories often, that might be it. Not a fan.

Finding Nemo
The movie itself I thought was just OK. Many think it was well done.
Too well done.
To the point where everyone around me was constantly referencing it, spouting lines from the movie over and over and over and over again.
Thus, making me feel sick of anything to do with this movie. I will likely never watch this movie again, because I can no longer stand a second of the movie's dialogue anymore. Probably the only movie I know where the movie itself didn't make me hate it, but the reaction to it made me hate it.

E.T. the Extra Terrestrial
Saw it as a kid, got extremely bored with it. I don't find E.T. pleasant to look at, at all.
To make matters worse, I've also learned of some very, very, VERY bad Rip-offs of E.T. that are out there (Nukie is by far the worse of all of them). Just see the Cinema Snob's reviews of all the E.T. rip-off's, and you'll see exactly why I don't exactly want to watch it anymore, even as an adult.

Super 8

Same plot as E.T., only with Lens Flare. Once again, got bored with it, very predictable.

------------
I could go on and on with others, but I'll leave it at five like last time.
Your turn. ;)
I'll start with my Top 5:

Tron: Legacy

While not many people "hate" this movie, it's seemingly divided between people who love it or hate it. I happen to love it, not just for the special effects or the story, but for the AMAZING sound design and music done by Daft Punk. How this movie didn't get nominated for best Original Score at the Oscars in 2009 is beyond my ability to understand.

Man of Steel

THIS is the movie that has the entire Internet split down the middle. Everyone I know either loves or hates this movie. I happen to love it because not only am I a fan of Zach Snyder's work as a Director (Two of his films are on here, I'll get to Watchmen in a moment), but this is a different take on Superman that is interesting to see. While the early Superman films are iconic, I'm glad to see a new, darker take on Superman's story that's been told the same way too many times.

Avatar (James Cameron's)

I know, it's Pocahontas, Dances with Wolves, Ferngully, Smurfs in Space. The story is not original, I will give it that. But the fact is that this movie is a technical marvel in terms of Visual Effects, which is WHAT I DO FOR A LIVING. It's something I look to as inspiration, and keeps me pushing myself and my artistic abilities. Had it not been for this movie, I wouldn't have decided to be doing VFX & Motion Graphics for a living. I probably wouldn't be HERE right now.

Watchmen

Yes, you do see Dr. Manhattan's blue "manhood" in this movie (which you also see in the graphic novel). Many people judge this movie and the graphic novel based on that fact alone, which, I'm just going say; is insanely stupid. If you are able to act like a mature adult and move past something as irrelevant as that, you can see that the movie is extremely well done, and the story is well done, just like the graphic novel.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm a fan of Zach Snyder's work. I saw the movie and absolutely loved it, especially the ending, which I will not spoil for you here. After I saw it, I went and read the graphic novel it's based on by the name same by Alan Moore. It gave me a real appreciation for the comic book industry, even more so than I already had. It showed me that comics don't always have to be for younger audiences. You can do things with these darker movies that other comics and movies aimed at younger audiences cannot do.

and last but not least...*sigh*

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
*ducks incoming tomatoes*

I know; Jar-Jar is annoying.
I know; it has problems, and makes no sense at times.
I know; it doesn't hold a candle to the original movies.

Here's the deal; I was an 8 year old boy when this came out, and I loved the original Star Wars movies (and still do), and I saw this movie with my father at least 4 times. The trilogy was a part of my childhood, and when something has a hold of your childhood, it's NEVER going to make you hate it completely. If these movies didn't come out, I would not have gotten the video games such as TIE FIGHTER, X-WING, Battlefront I & II, and the biggest ones of all: KOTOR I and II (Knights of the Old Republic). I'm gonna say it; the KOTOR games did the stories of Star Wars better than any of the movies.

So as bad as this movie is, I wouldn't be into Star Wars or learned about the amazing video games in the franchise if not for these movies.

Plus...Liam Neeson/Qui-Gon is awesome. You cannot deny that.

---------------

Now then, your turn! :P

My poor wallet...
Everyone has that one movie that hits a nerve.
And if it's not a movie, is it a video game? TV show? What hits the nerves every single time for you? I am curious.

Mine include two;

The Land Before Time: That one death scene (you know what it is)
Lord of the Rings: Return of the King; They Grey Havens scene.
My friend code is  2724-0181-4948. I give a Water Friend Safari with Panpour, Floatzel, & Poliwhirl. :D

You can battle me if you want but I warn you; I EV train, and I really don't care about Smogon's tier system or clause rules. ;)
I also love to trade :D

So long, long before I was involved in the world involving magical horses, back from 2006-2010 (my high-school years!), I was heavily involved in the Myst Franchise's community, and still am to this day.

Long story short; a group of us who make worlds for the game Myst Online: Uru Live have decided to put up a deviantART account :icondni-guild-of-writers: showcasing our worlds we've made. This one is mine that I created around 5-6 years ago. I've come a long way since then, and it's amazing to see how time flies.

Anyways, go check out our page and give it a watch if you like what you see. Also, please check out Myst Online: Uru Live if you have not done so already. If you love puzzle-adventure games that you can play with friends, check it out. It's completely free. :D

Thanks everyone!
So I decided I didn't want to worry about renewing Premium anytime soon, so I decided to go for the big upgrade. :D

The flame icon is a nice touch I think ^^
I don't want this to be a poll because I want this to be open for discussion. :)

With that said:
Which season is your favorite and WHY?
Which season had the best FINALE and WHY?

My own opinion?; Season 4. For both.

For me; The Royal Wedding has been topped by Season 4. Why? Because it's the first finale that tied back specifically to events that happened throughout the entire season (key episodes). While Season 3 had that in it's finale, I still feel it was too rushed with the Cutie Marks plot. I feel that Season 3's finale should have been two parts; one for the cutie marks, and one for Twilight. Season 2 didn't tie back to previous episodes, and Season 1 felt more subtle with referring to the Gala.

Back to Season 4; It had so much build-up and so many good story decisions in terms of how it relied on continuity from past episodes. It made all four seasons, and the various episodes within them, feel well connected overall. The only thing I would like to see in future episodes are more two-parters. Episodes that come in Part 1 and Part 2. Those episodes in my opinion tend to have some of the best stories in the series, because they have more time to tell it and develop it. Coming from a guy who grew up watching Justice League, where ALL the episodes were two parts; I'd really like to see more TV shows in general do two, or even three parts (like a 3-act play). This made the finale even better because it has so much build-up and it relied on us having seen most of the previous episodes to leave an impact. It treated it's viewers as very dedicated fans, which I think is the best move writers can take in this medium. I remember one of the writers saying that Season 4 in one word was going to be "ambitious", and it was. In my opinion, the finale did not only live up to my expectations; it surpassed them.

So anyways that's my two cents. What do you all think? :)

OH MY FUCKING GOD. FINALLY!!!!!
