Twilight Sparkle walked down the snow-covered path of the ancient ruins, her hooves sinking deep into the snow with every step. She was sure that this was the place where she would find it. She had finished reading a book entitled "The Ancient Legends of Equestria". According to one of the legends, known as "The Portal of Knowledge", there exists a door, a gateway, a portal in a northern polar region of Equestria, where it is said that all knowledge and secrets are contained. It is a portal that when open, will show the true answer of any questions presented before it. According to the stories of it passed down through many generations, The Portal of Knowledge only opens every 4,000 years, and only remains open for a total of 4 hours before the portal is closed for another 4,000 years.

As she walked further down the path, she noticed that the snow that covered the entire region started to give off a bit of a blue light. She continued down the path and eventually comes across what you see above. The portal was open to her surprise. She quickly approaches the portal and asks... ???

The Portal of Knowledge is a simple idea I had, and the background you see was an artistic concept I had in my head for a while. So I fused them together. It's not much, but I like how it turned out overall. After I made the background, I toyed around with it in Photoshop, decided to add Twilight in there, and this is the result.

This is probably in my opinion, my best work yet when it comes to lighting.
