What happens when your most faithful student turns against you, due to the manipulative influence of the God of Chaos in order to save her captive friends?
What if after all the years you spent observing her, teaching her, caring for her, protecting her, and even loving her as your own child, she's one day left with no choice but to use that very god-like knowledge you taught her, to overthrow you?
What if your most faithful student, decides to try and become become your most unfaithful master?
What if you then have no choice but to fight her until the very end, even if it tears you both apart from the inside?

*Twilight approaches Celestia on the outskirts of Canterlot in the mountains, where she told Celestia to meet her*
Celestia: Twilight Sparkle, my most faithful student. What's wrong? What's going on here?
Twilight Sparkle: "Princess Celestia...Discord has returned. He's holding the Elements of Harmony captive. He told me he would release them unharmed only after...after I've removed you from the throne of Equestria..."
*Celestia is taken back by the news and lowers into a subtle fighting position*
Celestia: "What?! No, there has to be another way to stop Discord and rescue the Elements! I can't simply give up Equestria to Discord just like that!"
Twilight Sparkle: "I wasn't asking you Princess Celestia, I'm telling you; you either have to step down...or you have to be removed...by force..."
Celestia: "What?! Twilight Sparkle, please...don't do this. I...I...don't want to have to fight you..."
Twilight Sparkle: *starts to tear up* "Please...don't resist Princess Celestia. My friends won't be free from Discord if you remain on the throne...I cannot let them down and have them fall under Discord's control...again."
Celestia: "No...I will never give up the throne my...once...faithful student. It is my duty to defend this throne until the end of my long life...
Twilight Sparkle: *tears roll down her face* I'm...so sorry Princess...then I'm afraid I...I have no choice then...*charges up magic as the rain starts softly coming down*
Celestia: *tears up* Neither do I. *charges up magic as the rain starts pouring down*

the way that Celestia and Twilight look, they look like they are from the actuall cartoon itself.
It looked sad that they were both crying since they both different beleifs and knew that they had no choice but to fight eachother even though they didn't want to.
And after reading the story, it was all so awesome. If there were more stories to this then I would most definately read it.
You did a very awesome job on both the picture and the story.
And now to the nitpicks. I must tell you that I had to VERY closely scrutinize this work to find fault, but here is what I have so far.
The background. It just felt a bit plain to me. This was rather a small one, and easily pinpointed as personal preference, so disregard as you like, but maybe make it a bit more interesting next time? I like to think that it is the subtleties that make good work like this truly great. (never let it be sad though, that this is merely 'good).
Celestia's fore hooves looked oddly fat, maybe tone them down next time.
The texturing. I was really sitting on the fence with this one. on one hand, the rain is good, as is the background texture, but the ponies just don't feel as... textured. More on the landscape than part of it.
Away from the nitpicks!
I loved this. Your textures were great, the rain was well characterized and there was almost no fault with the characters.
All in all, I rate this a good 8.5/10, and beg that you bring out more like this in future!
